About Me

as salaamu alikaum;

The true siprit of Islam is in full effect at The Lighthouse. You remember, when muslims were just glad to be muslim. Where the "fitnah" though present(as it is everywhere) does not dominate the landscape. Where the spirit of learning is alive and well. Those with a incliination towards work in the cause of Allah(ta ala) are aided and encouraged. Where there are no big I's and little you's. This is Islam at its finest.

There are many different methods present, yet they all co-exist in a spirit of harmony and well wishing. Sounds too good to be true? Come and experience it for yourself. Or just stop by and give salaams.

ASA: Let us not be duped, had, hood-winked, bamboosaled, tricked or fooled by the enemies of truth. The recent wave of attacks on our beloved Nabi (saw) are designed to incite an emotional reaction. Combine that with a few well placed "agent provocaturs" and you have the perfect pretext for ANOTHER invasion of muslim lands.

There is a well known hadis among the muslims involving a woman who had an apartment along the route that Rasullah (saw) took on his way to the mosque. This woman would time his approach and hurl insults and garbage upon him. One day he passed and she was not there so he inquired about her. He was told that she had fallen ill, so he went to visit her and fed her soup from his holy hands SHE BECAME MUSLIM. There is much that we can take from this event.

Imam Zaid said in a recent kutbah "do not react in a knee-jerk fashion". I add, if you are incited to do so by someone in your company, find new company.

May Allah ta ala make your journey smooth.

I an recent kutbah Amir Yusuf Wiley quoted a hadis qudsi wherein Allah ta ala says that "the worst of the believers is betterthan the best of kafirs, because the worst crime a person can comitt is to falsely associate partners with The One Who has no partners." Though many of us were aware ot this blessed truth, we sometimes forget. We tend to make excuse after excuse for kafirs whom we favor while condemning other muslims at the twinkling of an eye. Please don't assume anything in these words as an excuse for muslims to behave as kafirs do (because our Nai [saw]said that if a muslim dies in that state he will be raised in that state). But rather a reminder to both you and I that contempt for one another draws the contempt of Allah ta ala down on us all.May we each be protected from this....ameen.

As salaamu alikaum:
There is a well known hadith among the muslim wherein our Holy Nabi(saw) is reported to have said; "were it not for the women and children in our homes I would appoint someone to lead the prayer, gather fire-wood and burn down the houses of those of you who prayed fajr prayer at home". Sahih Bukhari

We have added and additional benefit to coming out to pray in the ranks with the men for the fajr prayer (the most desired prayer of the woman is made in the home [bukhari & Muslim]). Our beloved shaykh Abdul Karim is teaching from Imam Nawawi's 40 Hadith. I encourage you (and myself) to come out and take advantage of this learning opportunity.

Married sisters encourage your husbands to keep the ramadan spirit alive and you will realize much benefit as well.

Your family.

ASA all:
Imam Zaid recently gave the, "we are the people that we have been waiting for and this is our time" kutbah. How long has it been since you were glad to simply be muslim? When did you last reflect on Islam being a favor conferred upon you (and not the other way around)? Well, the time is now.

We are gearing up for our thursday night iftars(so as not to conflict with other masaajid). We are excited to have another opportunity to "feed the fasters" and enjoy the company of one another. Come get involved!

So if you haven't felt the love (in a longtime) come out and get with us, you will be glad you did, inshallah ta ala.

sincerely

Inna lilahi wa inna lilayhi raja'un:
We are sadden by the news of our fallen brother Hasan. We pray that Allah ta ala forgive him his sins and grant him jinna tul firdaus, ameen.

We are additionallt sadden by the state of affairs of the muslims. We repeatedly encounter situations where muslims expire and their non-muslim family members resist muslim burials. The muslims are "required" by shariah to have a will specifying division of their assets and provisions for those left behind. Yet we muslims live as though we are going to live forever and are thus not in need of a will. We foolishly expect that our "non-muslim" relatives are going to bury us as muslims. Ask youself; are non-muslims and muslims the same?

Our non-muslim relatives believe that their last chance to "save us" from Islam, is at our death. If we neglect our duty to leave a will expressing our wishes to be buried as a muslim, 9 out of 10 non-muslim relatives will bury us as christians! P E R I O D! astaghfirallah.

Express your interest in having a "wills seminar" at the Lighthouse Mosque. Express your willingness to attend and participate in the drafting of YOUR will and having it notarized.

Don't leave the muslims behind to argue with your non-muslim relatives over how you are to be buried!

May Allah ta ala helps us all.

At 7:30pm on saturdays a wonderous thing happens each week. A few seekers of knowledge gather at the Lighthouse Mosque in search of being elevated. There is nothing unsual about this in that all around the world muslims gather in search of bettering themselves. The thing that makes this unusual is that 1) the youngsters are teaching those otherwise and 2) we break bread.

It is the first of these that warranted this post. We have been blessed to come full circle. Those whom we invested ourselves in have returned with the "ilm" to teach us. We are blessed to see the fruits of our sacrifices over the years and be the benefactors.

The information is presented in a comprehendable fashion( in that the teacher does not talk over the heads of those in attendence) and questions are entertained, as they arise. This may seem to be a cumbersome process, but it isnt. We "usually" start on time and finish on time. The flow is very smoothe.

Upon arrival, you immediately feel a sense of "belonging". You get a sense that "this is where I'm supposed to be". You are welcomed in both spirit and form. Your questions are treated with the same degree of respect and seriousness as anyother question. There are no "stupid" questions, because we all learn at different paces. This is Islamic Study at its finest. Come see.

Please invite your friends to attend this and other classes held at the masjid, there is great blessings in it for both you, them and us all.

see you there
