Imam Zaid Shakir Translation and Commentary 
Shaykh Jamal ad-Din al-Qasimi's abridgment of Imam al-Ghazali's Ihya. We will cover the following sections, Insha Allah: Disciplining the Soul; Condemnation of Ostentation and Showing Off; Condemnation of Arrogance and Conceit.

Women's Tajweed Class, presented by the Rahmah Foundation                                       Wednesdays at 6:30 PM                                                                                             Instructor: Sister Sumayyah Waheed                                                                                       Session: Feb 16- June 1, 2011

For women who prefer to learn in an all-female environment, this class will serve as an introductory course in the science of Tajwid and Qur'anic recitation.  This course will cover the articulation points of the letters (al-makharij), the rules of noon and meem sakin and elongation (al-madd).  In addition to covering rules, students will practice reading in class and as homework.  Students must be able to read the Qur'an in Arabic proficiently.  (However, understanding Arabic is not necessary.)
